51 sunnahs of prayer, 8 sunnahs of ruku

In Salah (prayer), performing Ruku (bowing) with proper attention to the Sunnahs helps to enhance the prayer and align with the practices of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Here are 8 Sunnahs of Ruku:

  1. Raising the Hands before Ruku – Saying “Allahu Akbar” and raising the hands to shoulder or earlobe level before moving into Ruku.
  2. Placing the Hands on the Knees – Firmly gripping the knees with the hands, spreading the fingers out on the knees.
  3. Keeping the Back Straight – Ensuring the back is straight, parallel to the ground, and level with the head, which reflects humility and focus.
  4. Gazing at the Place of Sujood (Prostration) – Maintaining a focused gaze at the place where the forehead will touch during Sujood.
  5. Reciting “Subhana Rabbiyal Adheem” – Saying this phrase, which means “Glory is to my Lord, the Most Great,” three times or more for added reward.
  6. Staying Calm and Still – Observing calmness and stillness in Ruku, avoiding any rush.
  7. Elbows Away from the Body – Keeping the elbows straight, not bent, so the arms do not touch the sides of the body, allowing the Ruku posture to be firm and stable.
  8. Returning to a Fully Upright Position – Rising from Ruku with attentiveness, saying “Sami’ Allahu liman hamidah” (Allah hears the one who praises Him) and standing upright before proceeding to Sujood.

Observing these Sunnahs of Ruku helps create a deeper sense of humility and reverence in the prayer, following the example of the Prophet Muhammad.
